Why You Shouldn’t Feel Bad About Getting Turned Down

You end up sitting next to a hottie on the bus (the only possible benefit of public transit), so you take a chance and ask him for his number. When he turns you down or insists that he already has a girlfriend, don’t sweat it. There’s no reason to be embarrassed over showing interest in another person. Here are some reasons why you should never feel like a loser when a guy declines your advances:

  1. Now You’ll Know

If you’re not brave enough to ask your crush out, then you might never know how he feels about you. Would you rather waste time analyzing every text he sends you, spending hours deciphering what he could have meant by ‘heyyyy?’ As difficult as it sounds to admit your feelings to him, it’s the best thing you can do. No matter how he responds, at least you’ll finally know where he stands.

  1. They’ll Always be Another

Whenever someone turns you down, remember that there’s bound to be someone just as special a few blocks away, wishing they could find a girl like you. No matter how perfect you think a guy is, he has flaws, one of which is his ability to turn down someone as awesome as you. Never stress out about rejection. There are other fish in the sea, as they say.

  1. It’s a Compliment

No man will be mad at you for admitting that you find him attractive. Even if he turns you down, he’ll be pleased with the compliment. There’s no reason to get red in the face over your feelings. You have a right to express them.

  1. You Might Never See Him Again

If you’re attracted to a stranger seated next to you at the movie theater, you might as well hit on him. It’s now or never. If you walk out of the building without talking to him, then you may never come face to face again. If he turns you down, there’s a low risk of running into him in the future and having an awkward moment, so there’s nothing to worry about.

  1. What’s so Bad about It?

Your feelings may be hurt. Your ego may be bruised. Other than that, what’s so bad about getting turned down? If he has a girlfriend, his rejection has nothing to do with you. If he doesn’t find you attractive, remember that everyone has his own taste. He may prefer women twenty years older than you, so don’t think that you’re unattractive just because one man turned you down.

  1. It’s Brave

Who cares if he rejected you? You were brave enough to tell him how you feel. Not many people are capable of doing that. You should be proud of your actions, and since you can’t celebrate with him, reward yourself with a big pat on the back.

Never stop yourself from hitting on someone you have a real connection with out of fear that he’ll turn you down. The best of us get rejected. It’s nothing to be too concerned about. Just take a deep breath, go for it, and hope that he notices how special you are.
