According to Evan Rachel Wood, This ‘Vanity Fair’ Cover Was a Disaster

Remember when all of our favorite teen stars from 2003 posed for Vanity Fair? The dream teen lineup included Amanda Bynes, the Olsen twins, Mandy Moore, Hillary Duff, Alexis Biedel, Evan Rachel Wood, Raven Symone and Lindsay Lohan.

Who could forget the tacky early 2000’s clothing (What are Hillary Duff’s pants even made of?) and the happy-go-lucky pictures that made you wish your sleepovers looked even half as fun?

After one Twitter user posted a nostalgic photo of the group, Evan Rachel Wood wasn’t a fan of the throwback. In fact, she responded on Twitter, saying that she “felt like meat” during one of the worst photo shoots of her career when she was only 15.

Wood continued to relay a story about how she didn’t feel comfortable in heels but they refused to give her flats. Since that traumatic experience as a teen, she vowed to never feel her “identity being erased” again. With the pressure of growing up in the spotlight, Wood has built her identity and reputation as a good actress on her own terms and not just based off superficial popular opinion. Maybe that’s why she seemed to grow up just fine while a few of these starlets (cough, the girls on the ends, cough) have had major breakdowns since?
