Bill Murray is likely not be the first person you’d think when you hear  the word “singer,” despite his stints doing Saturday Night Live, but the legendary actor announced to Variety that this holiday season he would be singing Christmas carols in a special directed by “Lost in Translation” collaborator Sofia Coppola.

Variety didn’t release a date on which the special will come out, nor did it say which network was putting it on, so likely it is still in production stages.

“It’s not going to be live,” Murray says. “We’re going to do it like a little movie. It won’t have a format, but it’s going to have music. It will have texture. It will have threads through it that are writing. There will be prose.”

He added, “It will have a patina style and wit to it. It will be nice.”

We’re sure it will be nice, and that the comedian’s performance will make for a very Murray holiday season.
