Apple and Facebook Now Covering Women’s Egg-Freezing

 

While Facebook has already been known to cover employees for non-medical reasons, now both the social media giant and Apple are offering to freeze the eggs of female employees. Typically, the procedure costs around $10,0000, not counting yearly storage fees.

“Having a high-powered career and children is still a very hard thing to do,” Brigitte Adams, founder of Eggsurance.com told NBC News. “By offering this benefit, companies are investing in women, she said, and supporting them in carving out the lives they want.

Facebook is classifying the benefit under “surrogacy,” while Apple under “fertility.” Both companies are thought to be trying to recruit top female talent. Indeed, many women employed by both corporations are to bound think this “egg-cellent” news.
