Cam Newton Joins Colin Kaepernick, Gets $10k Fine For Wearing Beats by Dre Headphones
So last week, News Cult reported the ridiculous $10,000 fine bestowed on Colin Kaepernick for wearing Beats by Dre headphones, which is not allowed during any football related activity due to the NFL’s contract with Bose. Well, Cam Newton clearly doesn’t care about fines because he just followed in Kaepernick’s footsteps.
The Panthers quarterback wore the headphones during pregame warmups in Cincinnati on Sunday even though he knew it may cost him $10k. Players can still wear the Beats by Dre headphones, just not during games, or a press conference as in Kaepernick’s case.
According to ESPN.com, players are allowed to ‘wear headphones with competing logos off the bus, into the stadium and on the field for warmups before they get into uniform.’ So, techinically, according to these rules, since Newton was wearing them during warm-ups, he may not even get a slap on the wrist.
