Plaid is all the rage this season!!! From Jessica Simpson to Kim Kardashian, celebrities are going mad for plaid and you should be as well. It’s easy to wear plaid but you have to be careful that you don’t overdo it with plaid because sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t.

One outfit that I’m in love with is what Jessica Simpson wore the last week of September; the contrasting plaid minidress paired with the platform pumps was the perfect outfit for her. What made the two contrasting plaid prints work together is the fact that one print did not overshadow the other.

If you are new to wearing plaid then this is the guide for you. For the newbies out there it’s good to start out small and not overwhelm your outfit with plaid everywhere, leave that for experts! Below you’ll find five easy and fast outfits that you can create with just one plaid blouse.

Try your plaid blouse with a sweater vest and some nice black slacks. Make sure to button up the plaid all the way up to your neck.

*Bonus– Think you can hang with the experts? Wear a plaid skirt with neutral colors to make the skirt the center of attention. A plaid skirt with a white lace buttoned up blouse. Pair that with some flats that match the predominant color in the skirt and some black leggings. Keep it classy by not making the skirt too short. Rule of thumb: your skirt should be longer than your fingertips when your arms are against your sides.
