After recent speculation that North Korean leader Kim Jong Un might have slipped out of power, for health reasons or otherwise, one source with access to the country’s secret leadership has reported that Kim has hurt his leg. This would explain his recent limp, but does it explain why he has vanished for over a month now.

The source says that Kim hurt his leg during a military inspection, reporting that, “He ordered all the generals to take part in drills and he took part too. They were crawling and running and rolling around, and he pulled a tendon,” the source told Reuters on condition of anonymity.”

Why he decided to participate in a military training exercise with all of his generals is not publicly known.

The source continued, “He injured his ankle and knee around late August or early September while drilling because he is overweight. He limped around in the beginning but the injury worsened.”

This could be false, since Kim was seen with a limp as early as July, which some connected to his weight problems. Nevertheless, the source insists that he remains in “total control,” although his information could not be verified.

Now the world will wait and see if Kim turns up at North Korea’s Worker’s Party 69th anniversary event. If he doesn’t show, his absence will only make more people assume the worse.
