BREAKING: Sandy Hook Elementary Has Been Evacuated Due to Bomb Threat
Sandy Hook Elementary school was evacuated when a bomb threat was called into the school located on Fan Hill Road just after 9:30 a.m.
According to the authorities, students were moved to neighboring school and will be dismissed from that school as well.
“All students and all staff are absolutely 100 percent safe. Sandy Hook will dismiss at noontime because of a low to no threat scare,” Newtown Superintendent of Schools Dr. Joseph V. Erardi Jr. said in a voicemail sent to parents.
The building and surrounding area Sandy Hook Elementary School in Monroe has been searched and no evidence of a threat was located by authorities. Police said the investigation into the threat is ongoing.
Besides the automated phone call, a message was also sent to Monroe parents informing them about the threat and telling them that they will be kept up-to-date on any developments.
Students from Sandy Hook Elementary School are attending the former Chalk Hill Middle School in Monroe after the shooting at Sandy Hook in December 2012. Twenty-six students and staff were killed by a gunman.
