Bell Gardens Mayor Daniel Crespo Fatally Shot at Home, Wife Now in Custody
According to the Associated Press, the mayor of a Los Angeles suburb, Bell Gardens, was shot to death Tuesday during an argument with his wife, who was later taken into custody. Daniel Crespo, 45, was pronounced dead at a hospital, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputy Crystal Hernandez said.
The events leading the eventual death of Crespo transpired at around 2:30 pm on Tuesday. According to Deputy Hernandez, Crespo and his wife, Levette Crespo, 43, had gotten into an argument and paramedics were called to the house shortly after. Their son, Daniel Jr., 19, tried to intervene, and Crespo got into a struggle with him as well.
Levette Crespo got a gun and shot her husband several times in the torso, and she was detained for questioning, Hernandez said. However, it is unknown whether the shooting was in self defense or not.
