Michael Phelps Arrested on DUI charge
According to USA Today, Olympic champion swimmer Michael Phelps was arrested for driving while under the influence early Tuesday morning. Phelps, 29, also was charged with excessive speed and crossing double lane lines within the Fort McHenry Tunnel according to the Maryland Transportation Authority Police. Apparently, police say he was driving 84 mph in a 45-mph zone.
When asked to performed field sobriety tests, Phelps failed and according to the authorities, was clearly under the influence. However, Phelps did cooperate with police and was released later on that day.
Phelps, the most decorated Olympian in history was set to retire shortly after his incredible wins in the 2012 Olympics held in London. However, he announced in April that he had returned to training.
