Well if you are nervous about some sort of apocalypse happening, stop reading now. 150 people across the eastern portion of the U.S. have reported seeing giant fireballs over the skies in the past 24 hours, according to KFOR News.

The first fireball was seen in Florida and Georgia; the second fireball, seen by at least 77 people, was spotted in the skies over Michigan, Illinois, Ohio, Indiana, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, New York, and Kentucky; the third, seen by over two dozen witnesses in Tennessee, Arkansas, Alabama, Mississippi, Missouri, and Kentucky; and the fourth and final (thus far) fireball was seen in Connecticut, Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, and Maryland.

The American Meteor Society describes the event as follows:

It is rare that multiple significant fireball events occur and are reported to the AMS in the same evening. After analysis of the time, proximity of witnesses and pointing data gathered, it was determined that each event was unique. It is likely that several of these fireball events were captured on camera by the NASA fireball network.

Is it just me or is this slightly (read: very) unsettling?
