10 Traits Success People Have That You need to Learn
Have you ever looked at really successful people and thought to yourself, how exactly did they get there? While the most obvious answer might be that they went to college there are some really successful people that actually dropped out of college and are so successful that it makes you wonder, is it luck? Mark Zuckerberg who built Facebook dropped out of Harvard University during his sophomore year and look at him now. Then we have Bill Gates who also dropped out of Harvard University thirty years earlier than Mark Zuckerberg and is also successful to the point where you just have to wonder, what exactly did they do?
Mark Zuckerberg and Bill Gates and many other successful people that have or have not dropped out of college made it big in their fields because they have qualities that others may lack or may not have enough of. While it’s nice to have a college degree and have all those accolades the fact that college dropouts like Mark and Bill is proof that you need more than just a fancy college degree. If you want to be successful in your field you need to work on the following traits.
1. Better Themselves:
Successful people are always looking to better themselves in whatever career they choose. They are always willing to go out there and learn new things to make their business or product better. They are not afraid to get their hands dirty.
2. They understand Time:
Time is important when working in general. A lot of people do not take into consideration that time is very precious. If you are late to a business meeting, that is not going to make you or your product look good. If you say you are going to do something or go somewhere then you do it right away. If you need to send out a memo or letter, don’t let it drag for a week or two; you send it right away. Time is money and if you let time just slip away you are basically letting money slip away as well. You’re also making your path to success that much longer if you take time for granted.
In my opinion someone that hustles is someone that can work any situation. One door may have just closed but one minute later you already have that window open. Now I’m not saying that you should go breaking into houses but you need to look at all your options when trying to do something. Learn how to study and work people. When you know what a person is like you can easily convince them to invest in your business or give you a chance to prove to them that you know what you are doing. You need to hustle and learn how to work any situation in the sense that when one of your ideas doesn’t work you are already working on your next one.
You need to keep your eyes on the prize and not lose focus of what you want. At the end of the day there will be a lot of life obstacles that will get in the way of your success and you need to learn how to focus on what you need to get done and not let anything slow you down. You need to be disciplined in this aspect so that you don’t get easily distracted and can get down to work and do what needs to be done.
Successful people love what they do. You need to have that passion for your craft or business to keep going and doing what needs to be done to make your business or idea bigger. If you don’t wake up every morning happy and passionate about what you are doing then where are you going to get the drive to keep going forward?
6. They Set Goals:
Whether it’s a written down list or a mental one you need to set goals. These should be reasonable goals with a reasonable time line. This also gives you a push every time that you succeed in accomplishing one of these goals.
7. Self Confidence:
You can’t let them see you sweat. To be successful you need to have the confidence to go out there and play with the big dogs. You need to have the confidence to make a mistake and know that you will just learn from that mistake, get back up and go out there again and keep moving forward. You have the confidence to push forward any idea that someone else might deem “stupid” or “impossible”.
Successful people network at all times! You need to know people to get to certain places. It’s very true that “it’s all about who you know”.
9. Play Hard, Work Harder:
Successful people know that they must put in the work to be successful. While they relax and have some fun they actually work even harder. Actually some of them are even working while they are playing! (See above).
10. Never Quit:
No matter what, you never quit! No matter how many doors are closed or how many times people say no to you, successful people keep persevering no matter what!
So whether you do or don’t have some of these skills, if you really want to be successful at what you do you need to work on all these skills. You need to have patience and know that not everything happens overnight and that at the end of the day it takes a lot of hard work to be successful. When you do get there you’ll be able to enjoy the fruits of your labor.
